Week 25

Dear Parents,

            This week in math we continued working with three digit subtraction with and without regrouping. I am very proud of how hard my class has been working to master this skill. Please make sure your child is filling out the math and reading log nightly ( Mon.- Thurs), and turn in math or reading homework the next morning after it goes home in the blue daily folder. This homework helps reinforce a skill learned that day. In writing we finished up our class biography research project about Helen Keller. We researched as a class, wrote important facts on sticky notes, organized them in a timeline order, wrote our rough draft together, and edited the class rough draft. Then each child wrote his/her own final copy. They did an amazing job! In reading we were researching famous Americans, and famous African Americans for Black History Month. In science we have been observing, talking, and writing about our weather and the tools we use to observe it. We can’t wait to share our open house Flipgrid of videos and our pockets full of hard work next week.

Thank you to all the families who participated in our virtual February Habit Newsletter activity! Don’t forget that if your family participates in ALL 7 Newsletters, you will be showcased in our school as a Lighthouse Family!

• March’s Habit of the Month is Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood! Please click here to view and complete the virtual March Newsletter. It contains information about Habit 5, a read-aloud video, discussion questions to talk about with your child, and a short activity to do at home. Please have this completed by next Wednesday, March 10^th. 

• March 10^th is also Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood Day! We want to see the entire school wear PURPLE for Habit 5 on Wednesday!
• We will be tracking grade level participation for completing the virtual newsletter. The grade level with the highest percentage of participation for March will receive a grade level prize! Congratulations to 2^nd grade for having the most students/families participate in the month of February!
