Week 20

Parents,

Thank you for supporting this year’s Boosterthon Fun Run! The program was a huge success, but I still need your help. As a team, we finished at $48.66 per lap! With all the laps we ran, that comes out to $1,655! We want to collect 100% by 2/4/2015!

Please help your student get in touch with their sponsors. Sponsors can pay two ways—Cash or Check.

If an e-mail address was entered with the original pledge on www.funrun.com, your sponsor will receive an email reminder. They can mail cash or check to you and you can send it all in at once with your child’s collection envelope. That envelope went home today with a reminder letter highlighting what’s outstanding. You can also log on to www.funrun.com for all the information you may need.

Thanks again for your help and support of our class! Let’s work together to finish strong and reach our goal! Our class won a shoes off day, bring a stuffed animal to school day, an extra recess, and a popcorn party! They worked very hard to make a difference for our school. I am so proud of them! They all ran their hearts out last Thursday. Many kept going after reaching their goal of 35 laps!

See the information below about ticket information for the Valentin's Day Dance:

Boosterthon This Week!

Boosterthon Dance Party

Week 19

Dear Parents,
We  had another wonderful week of learning. Two step math problems are challenging for second graders, yet your children rose to the occasion and powered through. Thank you for helping your children get corrections to missed problems done at home when they did not finish them at school. Your partnership with me helps your children succeed! We  had fun experimenting with our mittens using snap blocks, 1 inch tiles and a chocolate kiss. Make sure you ask your child how it went. We will begin sharing our biography reports this week as all have been completed! I can’t wait to see all their hard work! We completed our unit on rocks and took our assessment Friday . We learned the importance of Martin Luther King Day and why it is a national holiday.
We are going to be sharing a couple Flat Stanley adventures each day next week. If your child’s Flat Stanley did not return via e-mail or postal service, I had him/her write Flat Stanley on his/her behavior chart. Please contact the people who had your child’s Flat Stanley and have them return him as soon as possible via e-mail or postal service. (I also found a letter from a Macie who had a Flat Stanley visiting her house in our classroom. None of our class seems to recognize this letter. If your child sent Flat Stanley to Macie, please let me know.) There are still 6 Stanleys missing in action!

Week 18

Dear Parents,

We have finished our second nine weeks of school! Report Cards will be available in Skyward on Friday Jan. 23rd. We finished our Famous American reports! We have a class full of great researchers! We learned so many interesting things about different famous Americans. We also learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. as a class. We were amazed by the many contributions he made to our country. Next week we will be gearing up for our Boosterthon Fun Run! It is a great way to make money and support our school. This year’s theme is Rockin Town Live. I hope you have a nice long weekend with your family!

Week 17

Dear Parents,
It’s been a great week back to school even with the cold weather! Your children have come back rested and ready to learn! We have been focusing on research in both reading and writing this week. We have learned how to distinguish important information and interesting details. We have also learned the steps to paraphrasing what we read and adding our own ideas to the information. Your child has chosen a famous American to research and has checked out a book at the library, if it was possible. We have been using an on-line source called facts 4 me which also has good information about our famous Americans. We have continued adding two digit numbers with regrouping in Math, but now are adding four numbers at a time!We have wrapped up our Unit on Motion. Check out the picture of our roller coaster on our Blog!
Next week is the last week in our nine week grading period. Report Cards will be available in Skyward on Friday Jan. 23rd.

Parents! We’re excited to host the 9-day Boosterthon Fun Run as this year’s fundraiser. We kick off the fun, healthy, and character-building program on 1-20-15. Plus, students will be learning five ways to make their community rock with Boosterthon’s character theme Rock’n Town Live, a music festival theme all about community. Along the way, students will gather pledges for how many laps they’ll run at the Boosterthon Fun Run event, which is on 1-29-15. Your family is invited to come out and cheer on your student! Please help our school by connecting your student with sponsors. Thank you for your support!
