Welcome to my blog! My name is Beth Carpenter! I am a 2nd grade teacher at Coyote Ridge Elementary. I majored in Early Childhood Education and have taught for 22 years. I have taught grades K- 3 which gives me a unique ability to know where my second graders fit within those grades. Teaching is more than a profession to me, it is a calling. I love to help light the fire of curiosity to help all my students become lifelong learners!

Week 31

    Dear Parents,

This week in math we continued our unit on Two-D shapes. We learned all the names of the polygons with 3-12 sides. We counted vertices and sides. We sorted our shapes, created shapes and made new shapes.

In writing we continued working on our how to papers, revised them for prepositions as well as time order words and edited them. We will choose how to publish them.

In social studies we had a review about directions on a map and what kinds of stores sell goods and services. We also read a scholastic news that told us how valuable our community service workers are and how they keep us safe and healthy.

In Science we began our unit on animals, their basic needs and their physical characteristics. We are examining different animal body parts and talking about how those parts have been adapted to help the animal survive.

*2nd Grade will go swimming next week!  Here is our swim schedule.  Also, I attached our altered daily schedule! Our daily schedule is changed next week  to accommodate swimming so we will not eat until 1:00.  Please send 2 snacks They will be HUNGRY and we don’t eat lunch until 1:00!
