Dear Parents,
This week in math we tackled three digit subtraction with and without regrouping. On Friday we moved into three digit addition with and without regrouping. Please practice these skills at home as it becomes confusing to them when they have both types of problems to do. I am so proud of their effort.
In reading this week we are focusing on research. Each student chose a famous African American to research in celebration of Black History Month. They needed to sift through two resources to find the most important facts about their chosen person to write on their Research Pyramid. We are working on a class biography paper in writing. The reading time at the end of the week has the focus of research as well. We are using this time to research Helen Keller. So far, they are so excited to see the challenges this famous woman faced and how she overcame them all!
In science we are continuing our weather unit as we look at our weather tools outside and observe the data they provide. We have had warm winds from the southwest and had rain in our rain gauge! It rained ½ inch on Wednesday! The wind changed direction and moved in from the north and boy, did it get cold quickly. We will be recording the weather for 7 days starting on Friday.
