Week 33

Dear Parents,
We all came back rested from our long weekend and ready to work! In math we finished up our geometry unit on solid and plane shapes. We enjoyed using pattern blocks and cardboard plane shapes to fill in outlines in our books. We worked with partners to problem solve many possible solutions.
In writing we worked together to research and write a report about sea lions. We are becoming serious researchers and enjoy finding out all the interesting information about this mammal. We practiced revising sentences by combining sentences, adding better adjectives or adverbs and using our own words in the sentences so we did not plagiarize. Next week we cannot wait to write our own research paper on our chosen animal.
In reading/social studies we’ve been learning about Earth Day and how we can help protect our environment by recycling, reusing, and reducing things we use in everyday life! On Friday we enjoyed eating our Barbaloot Snack ( pretzels, teddy grahams and marshmallows as we watched The Lorax! Some of us even got to play Earth Day Bingo!
In science we finished our unit over animal behaviors and characteristics. We took our assessment on Thursday. On Friday we presented the animal habitat boxes that the children brought to school. Then we went to see all the other boxes in the other second grade rooms. This was a very fast week!

Parents and student! Are you ready to see the amazing talent that CRE has to offer? Then come to the CRE talent show Thursday May 9th at 6pm in the gym! We have many amazing acts and MC’s that can’t wait to entertain you. Concessions will be available to purchase. See you there!
